NIT, Jalandhar was established in the year 1987 as Regional Engineering College. The institute was given the status of National Institute of Technology (Deemed University) in 2002.
It is the youngest amongst the eighteen NITs of the country. The institute is also known as Dr B R Ambedkar National Institute of Technology.

M.Tech: MASTERS OF TECHNOLOGY
M.Tech is a 2 years masters programme, hence can be only done after graduation or some institutes also offer integrated courses for M.Tech.
Eligibility required by NIT for admission to M.Tech is as below:
M.Tech by Research for Regular Candidates:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology (with valid GATE Score) or Master's degree in appropriate Sciences with a first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5) or equivalent and a valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR fellowship in the relevant areas.
Similarly Ph.D is also conducted by the departments of the Institute and the

Master's degree in Engineering/Technology in relevant areas with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5) with valid GATE score, or Master's degree in appropriate branch of Science with first class or minimum 60% marks (CGPA 6.5) with valid GATE score or UGC/CSIR/NET qualified.
