National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur is located in the picturesque surrounding facing snow clad Dhauladhar mountain ranges and is surrounded with lush green pine trees. NIT, Hamirpur is one of the twenty NITs of the country that was established in the year 1986 as Regional Engineering College as a joint and cooperative enterprise of Govt. of India and Govt. of Himachal Pradesh. The aim of the institute as featured in the logo is truly remarkable in their scope of vision.
College offers world class undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate education in engineering, sciences and humanities, thereby fostering the spirit of national integration amongst the students. Students are also offered with a close interaction with industry and a strong emphasis on research both applied and basic. Not only this, the institute has been bestowed with the status of deemed university.
The campus of the institute is well laid with well-built roads, electric installation, water supply, underground drainage etc. The surroundings are reckoned for their healthy climate with moderate temperature ranging from 1°C to 38°C at an altitude of 900 meters.
Eligibility
Those who are aspiring for admission in M.Tech programme have to apply online. The candidates are advised to go through the instructions carefully and the admissions are conducted in two phases where in the first phase college carry outs off campus admission where candidates apply online and are allotted the sears as per merit. In phase II, students are called up for on campus registration where selected candidates will be required to report for registration in person at the college.

Selection The aspirants must have BTech/BE/AMIE or equivalent in relevant branch of engineering with Cumulative Grade Point Index/Average (CGPI) in aggregate. Additionally, the admission in M.Tech programme is based on the GATE rank secured by the GATE qualified candidate. In case of ties in the GATE rank, the matter is solved on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. If still the seats remain vacant, non GATE students are considered who will be ranked according to the performance in their qualifying examination.
