To consider for admission to ME programs in various departments / centers, candidates with BE / B Tech or equivalent degree must have a valid GATE score from the GATE paper which is corresponding to their branch in qualifying examination (e.g. BE in Aeronautical must have a valid GATE score from AE GATE paper).ME is provided in the following disciplines:

M.Sc. (Engg.)
All candidates who are applying for M.Sc. (Engg) in Department of Instrumentation should qualify in any one of the following tests.
• Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) - GATE with valid score card, subject to securing a minimum percentile of 85. (Note that the GATE cut-off percentile given is the minimum required. The actual GATE cut-off percentile, used for the short-listing of the candidates to be called for interview, may be higher than the minimum given above. This actual GATE cut-off percentile is dependent on the number of candidates applying and the available vacancies in the department.)
• Joint CSIR-UGC National Entrance Test for JRF - Joint CSIR-UGC National Entrance Test for JRF, with a valid certificate as on the date of interview.
Note:
The Joint CSIR-UGC National Entrance Test for Lecturership is NOT considered as a qualifying test for admission to research programs.
UGC National Entrance Test for JRF - UGC National Entrance Test for JRF, with a valid certificate as on the date of interview. Please note UGC National Entrance Test for Lecturership is NOT considered as a qualifying test for admission to research programs.
The number of candidates called for interview will be decided based on the number of candidates applying and the available vacancies in the department. Interviews for admissions to research program will be held at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore during the month of June.
