From now onwards, there will be two teachers from associated degree colleges on Lucknow University's board of studies. The order already issued by the university is only applicable in the science, commerce and education faculties.
Welcoming the move, LUACTA ( Lucknow University Associated Colleges Teachers Association) president Moulindu Mishra said, "With the ever increasing number of degree colleges, the participation of teachers from degree colleges is almost negligible. It forced one to point fingers on the working of the university."
Mishra has been demanding the inclusion of two degree teachers in university's board of studies, since long time. LUACTA now wants that the same should be made applicable in the arts and law faculty at the earliest.
Lucknow University's BOS comprises of head of the department, all professors, two readers and two lecturers (on rotational basis), an expert who is not from the university and associated college, two teachers from constituent degree colleges.
To note, the Board of Studies is a body that decides on rules for the PhD supervisor. It also plays a vital role in recommending change to be incorporated in the syllabus.
