Three Punjab University students sitting on indefinite hunger strike had to be shifted to Government Multi-specialty Hospital, Sector 16, after their condition deteriorated on Sunday.
There was high drama at PU when dean student welfare Naval Kishore arrived at the protest scene after the students' health worsened. It took over an hour to shift the students, Sukhjit Singh Brar, the PUSU working president, Rajdeep Singh and Prabhjeet, to the hospital as they were reluctant of getting a treatment.
Sources said medical reports indicated a serious decline in the health of protesters as there was a marked decrease in their sugar level and the body temperature of two of them was alarmingly high.
The student organizations, however, decided to continue the protest till a decision was taken in the favour of students.
Meanwhile, the panel probing the dress row that erupted at Dr H S Judge Institute of Dental Studies on Sunday evening submitted its report to PU authorities. The document would be tabled before the special syndicate meeting on Monday. The report, which has been kept confidential, reportedly contains recommendations for the PU teaching fraternity to avoid such incidents.
SOPU leader Vikramjit Singh said they would launch a massive agitation if the report was not accepted by students.
