The two-day science-cum-literary event of Pharmaceutical Society, department of pharmaceutics, Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University-SPIRIT 2011 began on Friday. The programme witnessed a number of poster presentations and demonstrations reflecting recent advances in the field. A number of presentations on the role of nanotechnology in pharmacy also attracted the attention on the occasion.
Training programme concludes: A two-day training programme under faculty development programme for data analysis through 'scientific packet for social scientist' (SPSS) software concluded at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) on Friday. The programme was organised by the newly built interdisciplinary centre for mathematical sciences and department of statistics, BHU. The programme witnessed training on SPSS software that is widely used in research work. As many as 60 teachers and research scholars participated in the programme.
Innovation Leadership Award: The faculty of management studies (FMS), BHU, would receive the Innovation Leadership Award at a special function in Mumbai on February 12.
Refresher course: The 21-day refresher course in agricultural sciences, conducted annually by the UGC Academic Staff College, BHU, began on Thursday. As per course coordinator A Hemantaranjan, about 35 participants from different states like UP, Bihar, MP, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram and Gujarat etc are participating in the programme. The main theme of the course is 'agriculture based on integrated management of natural resources'.
Photo exhibition: A special photo exhibition-cum-lecture on life and works of Mahatma Gandhi would be organised on January 29 at Agrasen Kanya PG College, Parmanandpur, in the city.
Protest march: A protest march against the rising inflation was taken out near the main gate of BHU by Dristi Society, a social organisation, in the city on Friday.
DLW meeting: A meeting of DLW Rajbhasha Karyanyawan Samiti was held under the chairmanship of general manager, DLW, K K Saxena on Friday. Discussions on ways to increase the use of Hindi language in computer services at DLW were held on the occasion.
