Over two weeks after the allegations of copying in IIT-JEE entrance test surfaced in an examination centre at Giani Zail Singh College of Engineering and Technology (GZSCET) in Bathinda, a two-member team from IIT-Roorkee reached the college on Thursday to probe the charges.

IIT Roorkee was the supervising institution for the IIT-JEE entrance exam conducted in Bathinda on April 10.

The team members questioned some invigilators and other staff members of the college, said TS Sidhu, principal GZSCET. "I don't know the details of the allegations and the questions asked by the investigating team members", said Sidhu.

However, sources in the college revealed that the team members summoned 15 teaching and non-teaching staff members of the college and six of these staff members were questioned in detail.

These six members, include two teachers, one of them is working on contract basis and other on hourly basis contract in the college, were related with the IIT-JEE exam duty in the room where the allegations of copying by a daughter of a college staff member surfaced.

Vipin Gupta, a resident of Kotkapura town of Faridkot, whose daughter had appeared in the IIT test in the examination center GZSCET, had sent a complaint to the chairman, Joint Admission Board (JAB).

IIT-Kanpur director Sanjay Dhande on April 13 wrote to IIT-Roorkee to conduct a detailed inquiry into the complaint.

Dr UP Singh, chairman JEE-2011, Roorkee zone, declined to disclose the details of parameters of the inquiry, being conducted by the two-member team. "This is confidential and can't be disclosed at this stage", said the chairman.
